Raining Flowers and Button Buddies

The end of the Stampin' Up Catalog year is always bittersweet.  We are excited to see the new stamps and products arrive, but we are also sad so see some of our favorites go.

Here are two sets that are only available through May 31st.  These cards are from my technique club this month.

The first set is Raining Flowers (122765).

We learned the technique called Watercolor Pencil Highlighting.  It's such an easy and pretty way to add a focal point to your card.  You stamp a bold image with a light ink.  Then pick an area you'd like to highlight and color it in with watercolor pencils.  Hopefully you have a set of watercolor pencils.  They were on the retired list this year and quickly sold out!  You can also try this technique with markers.

The next set is the sweet Button Buddies (122735).
You'll also notice a sneak peek at the new stamp set Label Love and its coordinating punch.  Use these new products and many more at my annual New Catalog Stamp Camp.

If you've ever been to my house, you'd know I love sunflowers.  This stamp was perfect for our second technique called Faux Flocking.  You take the edge of our Paper Snips or Distress Tool (127562) and rub it against the edge of cardstock to make a little pile of fuzzy paper.  You then attach it to your stamped image using either Tombow glue or Crystal Effects.

While I love sunflowers, my absolute favorite flower is the purple bearded iris.  We had these in our front yard when I was a kid.  I remember taking a cutting of one of these flowers to my second grade teacher at the end of the school year.  When I started gardening, I could not find the exact variety of iris I remembered from my childhood.  I was so happy to find these blooming outside the school my daughters attended when my middle daughter was in second grade.  I transplanted a few to my garden and am happily blessed by them each spring.

Thanks for stopping by for this month's hop.

  1. I could never get excited about the set you featured, Raining Flowers, but your card is a "wow" card. I think I just might make up some of those, I really like it! I too love iris especially the one you love. I can't seem to get them to grow over here at my house.
